Sorry I haven't posted in so long! I've been busy at work. This was a few Saturdays ago. I wore a Sweetface silk dress with a bubble hem, a vintage belt, and Max Studio heels. Jennifer Lopez closed up shop on her Sweetface label but this dress is so exquisite and such high quality I wish she hadn't.

OOTD 7.25.09
86 degrees and HOT today! Good thing I've been saving this dress so I knew exactly what I to wear. Last month Jenn and I attended an event for The Cotchery Foundation at the Marciano store in Garden State Plaza. I thought this tank dress would be a versatile piece, can't you see it with over the knee boots and a leather jacket? Or tights with an oversized cashmere cardigan? Today I wear it with my trusty Manolo Vella's, a long antique silver necklace from Forever 21, a vintage Bill Blass cropped blazer (present from Jenn- thank you baby!) and Valentino shades.

OOTD 7.24.09
Today's weather called for 80s and humid so you know I took that as a chance to wear my new short shorts! I decided to balance
the shorts with a casual loose top. Today I paired the shorts with a classic Polo Ralph Lauren oxford, black leather with gold accent Pour La Victoire flat sandals, an Hermes scarf worn as a belt and my Chanel grand shopping tote with gold hardware. Thank you College Chic for taking the photo! If only I were headed to the beach after work!

the zipper infatuation continues...

Baby did a bad, bad thing...I picked up these Hussein Chalayan pants. I could not resist the skin tight spandex, low rise, elastic waistband and ZIPPER!! They are so hot, not as long as me as they are on the model which I think is even sexier. Today I have them paired with my Manolo Vellas and a Donna Karan silk tunic that I tucked into the front. I added a white gold anklet for an extra punch. When College Chic gets in she'll take a pic so you can see IRL!

who wore it better? DVF Doll vs. Hillary Duff

Who wore it better? In this case we are talking about the Manolo Blahnik Vella booties. Hillary wore hers to the Manolo Blahnik Rodeo Drive Walk of Style party. My invite must have been lost in the mail so I wore mine to work today. I wear mine with a sheer J. Crew ruffle blouse, vintage skirt and Roger (the Carrie belt from SATC). What do YOU think?

Those tights!

Let's start this posting properly. I am not a fan of Jessica Alba's style. It's easy enough to throw a draped scarf around an outfit to add an instant dash of chic. It's not rocket science. It does not make one stylish. Anyhoo, back to the outfit at hand, worn to last night's Costume Institute Ball at The Met.
THOSE TIGHTS. THAT HAIR. THE JEWELS. No. No! NO! It's like when you were a kid and took the heads off your barbies but put them back on the wrong bodies really quickly before your mom noticed and yelled at you. Now imagine she took a different route with the same dress...
1. bare legs
2. less-is-more hair. up or down and pushed back is fine. just lose the braid.
3. modern geometric earrings. those emeralds would be more appropriate with a gown. they're gorgeous but with that dress?
4. sheer lipstick.
The moral of this story? Less is more!

I know I have a pretty cool job...I mean, I get to see all the new items come in as they get consigned. There are always things I want but I force myself to be disciplined and hold back. These Gucci's are $450 at Saks and a BRAND NEW pair came into Westfield...in my size...
Our price? Just $139!
This style has never attracted me before but I suddenly dig the simplicity. Love the shade of brown and richness of the leather. I'm picturing them near the beach with navy linen short shorts, a washed out baggy white oxford tucked in and some sort of printed head scarf. Hand me a gin & tonic and I'll be set! Is it summer yet?

Miu Miu gets me again

My heart is racing. I am dying over these Miu Miu leggings, DYING. Of course they will be knocked off by Forever 21 immediately, but if you're going to rock the sequins they have to be quality people. I can only imagine how beautiful these are IRL. Priced at $1495, imagining is going to have to get me by for now...

Outfit of the Day!

Spring has sprung here in Westfield, NJ! We are expecting temperatures in the mid 7o's today and that means it is FINALLY time for bare legs and DVFs. Today I wear the Diane Von Furstenberg Wonder Woman dress and my trusty sapphire Balenciaga. Ah...welcome back sunshine! I promise to post IRL (in real life) pictures ASAP.

sparkly sparkly lady

So, what makes this picture so special? First - the wash on her denim. Isn't is refreshing to see something other than the dark overdyed jeans we've been wearing non-stop? Yes, many fashionistas are picking up acid wash but this looks much fresher, especially for the season. The cuffs are delightful. Of course her LV special addition is the cherry on top. It takes a sparkly sparkly lady to pull off 5 inch (unplatformed) sequined shoes with a bag of that magnitude! Wish we could see the rest of the ensemb.

A few things caught my eye in this photograph from the recent NY fashion week...
Notice the vintage Gucci bag is still a strong choice. This is one classic that works with any trend and appears season after season. I still pull out my navy signature clutch and brown signature doctor's bag...and the doctor's bag was my mother-in-laws first so it's definitely gotten a lot of wear between the two of us. We have a navy sig shoulder bag in an unusual shape, as well as a navy doctor's bag in our Westfield showroom!
Another exciting think to take from this photo is the pop of color. Most women would wear a monochromatic outfit with a bright shoe, but not this young lady!! She is working it from another angle, getting more use out of her versatile gray boots and rocking the red legs. An inexpensive bright legging or pair of tights can really update a look.
